Senior Pictures After Dark

Wait?  Aren’t most Senior Pictures done during the day?  Sitting in a doorway in the alley?  Hugging a tree?

Not at our studio.

One of my FAVORITE kinds of senior pictures sessions is what we call Nightscapes.  The world looks totally different after dark.  So many new possibilities exist.

We primarily work downtown using either the city nightscape as a background or many times using the really interesting lighting effect we find after dark. 

That same doorway in the alley looks totally different when you’re being illuminated by the one overhead light.

The amazing shadows on the wall create some really different backgrounds.

The pools of light down the street create a wonderful setting for some very different looking senior pictures.

The headlights and the taillights create incredible streaks of light.

And strangely enough, there is sometimes enough light in the night sky to create some amazing effects.

If you’re at all a night person, this is a great senior pictures session for you.  It’s particularly popular with actors, musicians… and vampires.

When do we do Nightscapes Senior Pictures Sessions?

Well, not in the middle of summer.  It doesn’t get dark until 9:00.  So we tend to do most of these in the middle of October.  The weather is still pretty good, and it gets dark around 6:00 or 6:30.

How long are Nightscapes Senior Picture Sessions?

We’ll typically spend about two hours, based on the plan we put together during your Senior Portrait Design Consultation.  That’s when we’ll lay out exactly what we’re going to do and the story we’re going to tell about you.

How Much do Nightscape Senior Pictues Sessions cost?

Because we’re working at night, outside of normal working hours, we charge a separate session fee of $75 for a Nightscape Senior Picture session.  This can be added onto any other of our sessions that you choose, and doesn’t take any time away from your other session.
